The place sells everything Ginger. This place is actually not accessible by public transport. What I did was to get the bus driver to stop me at the nearest point to the ginger factory.
When I got off right, it was so bloody confusing Lah. There was no signs whatsoever to lead there. After being clueless, walking around for 10 minutes or so, I saw the large Ginger factory sign. Cibai, I have to walk another 400m to get to that place. And this is suppose to be a so called “Tourist attraction”. How come not Tourist friendly at all? There was no path way to pedestrians to walk to the factory, I had to walk along the roads and construction sites to get there.
I personally am not a Ginger fan. I used to pick out the ginger from those Chinese soup that my mum cooks. But what happened while I was here, was the most memorable throughout my trip. Read on.
Mr Ginger himself.
I did not know Ginger could be made into Jam, Spreads, Lollies, Ice cream, Ginger beer, Chili mix, Etc. I was spoiled for choices. There is also daily train tours available which goes around the factory. I bet not one single person has been on the tour since it can be done by foot also.
LY and her ginger beer. Contrary to being called a “Beer”, there is no alcohol in it. So its halal. Lol.
My vanilla ginger ice cream and orange sorbet $4.50. There was actually a lot of chunky ginger in my ice cream. I would very much prefer pure vanilla ice cream. Ah well, Just for the sake of trying.
Me and LY also met this lovely Aussie couple who actually snap this one and only photo of both of us. The lady was so sweet, she not only offered to take the picture for us but also made small talk. She told us that her daughter in law actually hails from Malaysia too.
See this ancient looking clock works. Know how to read it? Well, see where the shadow of the clock hand is pointing at? That is the time. It was 4pm when I took this picture.
We then hop over to Nutworks. Which basically specializes in Macadamia nuts. Yum, my favorite. The factory wasn't operating when we get there, so unfortunately we did not get to view the process of how the macadamia nuts is process and all that.
I did get packs of Macadamia nuts though. All for mummy to take back to Malaysia when she comes. [If mum is reading this, you see! How thoughtful your daughter is?!!!]
On our way back, we got....
Chase by dogs. Yes, crazy stupid dogs.. Well, we did not get like.. knocked over. But I had this feeling that these dogs will pounce on me if the fences or leash wasn't there.
A whole 30-40 Harley Davidsons. For those of you not in Australia, there is actually bikey gangs around. Like obese men with too much facial hair and leather jackets. It was a rather scary sight to see them cruise pass us, althought I don't think they mean much harm.
A police car which stopped a random driver for a random breath test. Right before our eyes. Twice.
We waited under the sun for a whole 1 hour for the bus. In a non existence bus stop. Apparently, stupid Sunny coast, alot of stops don't have bus poles and people just hail the driver if they wanna hop on. How stupid is that? I am not a local, how would I know? So, me and LY just waited stupidly for 1 hour for the stupid bus. Which was the last bus of the day by the way. If we missed the bus, we are doomed. Stuck in the middle of no where, no car, no one, no idea.
Well, all in all, Sunshine coast was a really fun and exciting experience. The only downside is that we did not made it to Noosa. Which would be doubly fun and great to watch the Sunset after such a hectic day. =).
