Eumundi Markets
Sunshine Coast trip Part 2 of 3 – Eumundi Markets
Eumundi markets is one of Sunshine Coast's leading tourist attractions established in 1979 and run by The Eumundi & District Historical Association Incorporated. There is about 600 plus stalls in the market ranging from handmade arts and crafts to international food stalls and the likes. It is open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The only bus which stops directly in front of the the markets is 630 and 631. It took me about 3 hours to get there by public transport. 2 hours via train and 30 minutes wait for the bus and another 30 minutes bus ride. Whew. Even before I reached the markets I was feeling a tad bit tired already. Sucks that I don't have my own car over here.
I was so tempted to jot down “I was there!”. Its great to know that my presence in Eumundi will be “Remembered” as long as the guest book “Stays Alive”. Lol.
Bits and pieces of how the market looks like. To me, it was kinda messy. That is to say, the stalls in the markets was not very organized. They could be selling handmade paintings in one stall, Clothes in the next and Coffee right next to that. So yeah, really messy. It spans 3 blocks wide and close to 2 streets long.
LY had Spinach, Feta and mushroom Crepe with Tomato Chutney $10.
And I had BBQ Chorizo [Pork sausages] with Cous Cous $8. Was yummy. The texture of the sausage is like those of Chinese sausages.
100% pure fruit crush $3.50. Ok I totally made that up, I don't remember the name of the stall. But what I was trying to say is, this drink contains no sugar and is made out of frozen fruits. Crushed and made into icy like texture. I also had Raspberry Sloshie $3. Which I did not take a picture off. It was so bloody hot, I think I gulped down half of the Sloshie at one go.
Just opposite the markets was this so called Chocolate factory. Very well known, Very expensive. I didn't dare take any pictures of the insides of the shop, the owner might sue me for copyright infringement. Lol. One piece of tiny chocolate costs about $3.50. The owner was in her realm when I was in the shop. She was putting chocolate sprinkles one by one on one chocolate. How cool is that?
Anyway, it was about 2pm I think, when I left Eumundi Markets. Did not get anything. Was suffering from mild dehydration caused by the extreme heat. But excited because I will be heading to my next destination. The Ginger Factory. Tune in soon.

Hi Sharon, wow, my last visit to Sunshine coast was back in 1998... ouch. I rented a car and frove from Brisbane all the way there and then the next day, drove all the way down pass Surfers Paradise to Byron Bay. It was super exciting back then but I am sure it is really nice now.
Regards,
David

Have just moved to Eumundi from Sydney with my wife and three chldren, and love the groovy vibe in town. Such a cool, friendly ecclectic place, with so much history and culture wrapped up in a teeny little place! - Dave
